Eric B. Schnurer is a problem solver and thinker focused on the future, how we can work together as a society, and how to formulate and promote “the greater good.” Through his consulting work with governments and leaders nationwide and internationally, his uplifting writing in national and international publications, his teaching and speaking to college, tech and general audiences worldwide, and the Greater Good Initiative and conference he organizes, Eric addresses the questions, Why’s the world a mess? And what can we do about it?
Eric has been advising high-level decision-makers since 1993, when he served as chief-of-staff to the acting governor of Pennsylvania.
A widely recognized expert on public policy and government effectiveness, efficiency and reinvention, he is a regular contributor to publications like U.S. News & World Report, The Washington Monthly, the Aspen Institute, The Atlantic, Governing and The Hedgehog Review, and Foreign Policy. His work has been featured in The New York Times, Newsweek, and almost every major U.S. op-ed page. But he mostly writes directly for his dedicated readers on his free Substack blog, The Greater Good.
Eric founded one of the leading public sector management consulting firms in the country today, guiding state and local governments to improve services while reducing costs. He also has worked as a federal prosecutor, civil rights attorney, journalist, and successful entrepreneur and businessman.
Eric holds a B.A. from Brown University in political science, a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and a J.D. from Columbia University Law School.
